DREAM BIG

Is it ok to dream big?

We often see this phrase when we talk about success, leadership, planning, goal setting, management, etc. You may ask, is it ok to dream big without nurturing my ego? Let's put things in perspective first.

I came across Tommy Barnett's definition of dreaming big,

"They are the goals and visions that fire your heart and saturate your soul with joy at the very thought of them. They are those continuing visions of what you want your life to be at its highest level of fulfillment--what you want to do, how you want to do it, what kind of person you want to become in the process."

He went on to explain that it is God who placed our dreams in us, it is part of our spiritual DNA, a blueprint of who we are and it will be like a magnet that will always pull us until we accomplish it.

As to our ego, as long as we do not think and consider that we're doing it on our own and removed God in the equation, then we can desire to have lofty goals. I recommend John Piper's article as a good reading - Should I “Dream Big” for God When I Have a Huge Ego?

So the question is, if until now you don't know what your dream is or if you knew already but hasn't done anything yet to get started, you are wasting your time.

Your desires, gifts, talents and past experiences will point you to your dreams. Your God-sized dreams should be founded on Him alone to ensure success. So what is that

vision that is bigger than you? If you're already in it, how far have reached your dreams?
